19 Oct 2007 Robert Maynard Killed in action - Sgt. Robert Dee Maynard, 22, formerly of Blaine, has been reported killed in hostile action over Vietnam. Mr. Maynard, a member of the 101st Airborne division, was a passenger in a military aircraft which was shot down last Sunday. There were no survivors. Mr. Maynard entered the army in 1970 after attending Skagit Valley College. He is a 1967 graduate of Blaine High School. Mr. Maynard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Maynard of Festus MO; one brother, Charles L. Maynard of Mexico; three sisters, Cheryl Bingsham of Landon ND, Sherry Vogt of Oxnard CA and Laura Maynard of Festus MO; grandparents, Mrs. Lorna Maynard of Arco ID, and Earl Clark of AZ; and great-grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Storie of Logan UT.
