My Uncle Brent's name is on Panel 64-E Row 015 of the Wall.

I did not get to know my uncle as he perished before I was born
but I want to take the time to thank him and everyone who served in Viet Nam.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 21 May 1968 B Battery, 1/40th Artillery, lost two men to an unforeseeable accident - SGT David E. Lemcke of Hilton, NY, and CPL Brent R. Jones. According to the POW Network , Sgt Lemcke and four other individuals were in a personnel bunker. One of the men was cleaning a weapon when it accidentally discharged into a box of illumination grenades. The bunker burned extensively, and there were numerous explosions from the large amount of ammunition stored there.

Although Corporal Brent's remains were identified, Sergeant Lemcke's body apparently was entirely destroyed by fire and explosion.
