The database page for Luther Vermont Gilreath
After I read Colonel Hal Moore's book on the battle at Landing Zone X-Ray, I was so moved by the courage and bravery of the men that fought there I just wanted to honor SFC Luther V. Gilreath. I have never met SFC Luther Gilreath but he came from a small town next to my home town. He and his fellow Cavalrymen have made me very proud to have been a part of the 1st Cavalry Division. The sacrifice these brave men gave will never be forgotten by me. It is indeed a honor that I be allowed to thank him in this humble way.
God bless you, Sergeant Gilreath. |
I never knew Luther, but I saw his name listed on the movie screen after viewing "We were Soldiers Once - and Young". I recently moved to his home town, and I thank God I survived Vietnam as a grunt soldier. I was able to marry and raise a family ... I have been blessed. My regards and prayers are for his family and loved ones ...
