21 Nov 2005 I served with William and was with him when he was wounded. He served his country with honor and was a personal friend. I will never forget that day as he knew that it was his time before we went on the assault. He told me and I sent him to sick bay but they sent him back. I think of him daily and remember his smile when he said it would be OK. If it was his time then that was what it would be. I held him as his blood ran out of his body waiting for the chopper. They took him and radioed back that he had passed. Later that day I wrote his family and told them what happened. I remember a lot of men who passed under my command as platoon leader. I will not forget the brothers I served with. They will always live in my heart and I will continue to tell of their sacrifice for those who did not serve. You were my friend, Bill, then and now.
